What is the difference between natural gas, liquefied petroleum gas and artificial gas?

20-03-2023

The three come from different sources:

Natural gas comes from underground reservoirs; Liquefied petroleum gas comes from refineries; Artificial gas comes from fertilizer plants or gas plants.

The ingredients of the three are also different:

Natural gas naturally contains alkanes with different chain lengths; It is mainly methane.

The liquefied petroleum gas mainly chooses butane which is relatively easy to liquefy;

Artificial gas is water gas produced by carbonizing coal in a gas producer at high temperature. It is mainly composed of carbon monoxide, supplemented by hydrogen, and contains part of carbon dioxide, nitrogen and a small amount of hydrogen sulfide.

The three kinds of artificial gas, liquefied petroleum gas and natural gas used by urban residents are collectively called "civil gas", commonly known as "gas".

The first source of gas is produced locally by the city's coking process and stored in huge steel tanks, which are then piped to customers.

The second type is filled in small cylinders for transportation and sales;

The third type starts from oil and gas fields and is piped and pressurized to the city for a long distance. Shanghai's natural gas, for example, comes from fields in the East China Sea and Xinjiang. Relatively speaking, gas has the highest calorific value per unit volume, so it is also the most expensive. The gas in the liquefied gas bottle should be decompressed into the gas cooker after being installed in the reducing valve at the mouth of the bottle, and the liquid residue that can not be burned is easily left in the bottle after being used, which should be cleaned regularly; The artificial gas in the pipeline will set up a "collection well", the gas in the liquid residue is not flammable in the way of separation and removal.

Gas is generally divided into liquefied petroleum gas, artificial gas, natural gas three categories. The pressure and caloric value of these three kinds of gas are very different, and the stoves of various gas sources can not be mixed with each other. Therefore, the gas of the user's home is different, and the choice of stoves is different, otherwise there will be accidents. In order to help relevant personnel understand the knowledge of gas, the relevant knowledge of gas is summarized as follows:

1. The working pressure of liquefied petroleum gas is 2.8KPa, the gas supply mode is generally cylinders, and the gas type represents 20Y, which is suitable for the outer packing boxes and nameplates of liquefied petroleum gas all over the country with the gas source type and applicable region. Pay attention to check when shipping to avoid sending wrong goods.

2. The working pressure of natural gas is 2.0KPa, and the gas supply mode is generally pipeline. The natural gas in most areas of the country is 12T, and some areas have other gas types such as 10T, which can be judged by the gas source type and applicable region on the packing box and nameplate.

3. The working pressure of artificial coal gas production is 1.0KPa, and the gas supply mode is usually pipeline. The gas type symbols mainly include 5R, 6R, 7R and R.

Artificial gas is 800-1800 PA and natural gas is 1500-2800 PA (both for civil use).

3. The concentration range of combustion explosion is different: the explosion range of natural gas is 5-15%, and that of artificial gas is 4.8-50%.

4, harmful different: natural gas on the characteristics of its composition, generally non-toxic, only in the combustion of incomplete condition to produce carbon monoxide toxic gas, and artificial gas combustion still contains a certain concentration of carbon monoxide, with toxic characteristics, both in the leakage situation, natural gas is generally not poisoned, and artificial gas is easy to poisoning.

5. Different calorific value: the calorific value of natural gas combustion is about 8656 kcal/standard cubic meter, and the calorific value of artificial gas combustion is 3550 kcal/standard cubic meter.

6. Different sources: Natural gas is directly mined from underground and obtained through necessary processing; Artificial gas is made from solid fuels such as coal and coke or liquid fuels such as heavy oil through the process of distillation, vaporization or cracking.
